How To Romanticize Your Life
even when you’re in a season where life itself isn’t very romantic
So you want to romanticize your life, even when the season of life you are in is really challenging you or lowkey sucks to find yourself moving through… Good. But, let’s get your mind right before you read this, okay babes?
This isn’t about making your life aesthetically romantic, or gaslighting yourself into positivity when you actually are struggling. The definition of Romance is “a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love”. Romanticizing your life should be about the practice of loving your life, caring for yourself, creating and experiencing beauty in your own way even when things are challenging. Because believe it or not that is what you deserve. It’s really not debatable, the facts are the facts.
Now that your crown has been straightened out, carry on reading for the good stuff!
Take deeply nourishing, intentional care of yourself
The more intentional you can be in caring for yourself & tending to the garden of your own heart, the more romantic life will feel and can be. When life is uncomfortable or uncertain, we need to be able to have a compassionate relationship with ourselves so that the seasons of transition can feel less intense. When we feel safe and supported in life we can see all of the ways life is safe and supports us.
Be gentle to your self in your process. Make a meal that will nourish you. Practice self care that will actually help you heal, and that will be deeply nourishing & supportive to your system.
Hold onto the glimmers
Life is challenging, uncertain, and heart-wrenching. And in the same breath, life is awe-inspiring, miraculous, and always offering us a glimmers of light. Make yourself available to see, feel, and collect those glimmers of light. Keep them in your back pocket for when life is testing you and you need to remember where your heart is and what you truly believe. This is how we make and keep life magic.
Spend time where you will find + feel light
You can create the space in your life for these glimmers mentioned above to occur. You can invite them in by creating circumstance and opportunities for lovely things to happen. Go where there is color, light, laughter, warmth. Make time in your days and weeks and months to spend in places that you know you will leave feeling better than when you arrived. Let your community hold, support, and uplift you.
Slow down
Make yourself present. Breathe. No really, take slow, deep, mindful, and calm breaths. Take your time. Rest when you need to (and more often than you think you need, too). Slow down your thoughts, really take in your surroundings. Slow down your heart and mind, allow yourself to recharge. Slow down your emotions, read in between them to find the truth and the roots, the clarity you’re looking for. Slow it all down so you can hear, see, and feel things more clearly.
See the miracles
You are breathing. That very mechanism is a miracle. Feel the air fill your lungs and gratitude for oxygen wash over you. Feel the sun on your face. Make yourself present to how safe you are in this moment. Notice where your are ‘coincidentally’ supported & guided in your life. Notice a glimmer, take a closer look at it and recognize it also as a miracle - a blessing on your path.
Remember this is all up to you
Life is happening through you. You can resist life or dance with it. You can gasp for air or take slow strong breaths into your capacity. You decide if a storm is devastating or cleansing. You decide if a “bad” day makes a bad life, and if a day is bad at all.
If you are finding yourself in one of those exceptionally challenging seasons of life recently I would like to remind you that you are not alone and you have gotten through every single exceptionally challenging season before this one. You know how to find your way.
Get out there and make some Good Light.

Beautiful reminders Riley. There are miracles to be found in the most challenging situation. I say this after a particularly challenging week - that was also filled with so much beauty, and kindness. It's humbling.
This set the tone of my day! Monday blessings. 🙌
